Biogas is traditionally used for power and/or heat generation in engines and boilers. Raw biogas produced from anaerobic digestion contains usually between 45% and 75% methane (CH4) the balance being Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) plus traces of other gases. In order to utilize Biogas as CNG replacement, CO2 and H2S has to be removed. This upgrading Process can be achieved by either membrane technology, Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) or by chemical separation, just to name a few most efficient alternatives.
